For its 2012 edition, the GIFT-MENA network organized its annual conference entitled: "Training and Cooperation for Change in the MENA Region". The conference was held in Tunis on the 9th and 10th of October 2012, in collaboration with the National School of Finance of Tunis. This event was organized back-to-back with the Annual Meeting of the Directors of Training Schools and Institutes of the MENA region (on the 8th of October 2012).

The conference focused on the following three topics:

  • Building Capacities in Times of Crises: Has the crisis modified our vision of the civil service? What are the approaches and strategies to be privileged in post-conflict countries for recruitment and training? What are the current challenges of human capacity development?
  • Institutional and Regional Cooperation: Are national training institutions able to collaborate and create synergies to improve the delivery and impact of training programs at a national level?
  • Development Cooperation:  How can development cooperation and international aid better cope with emerging challenges in MENA countries? Will synergies between technical assistance and training be created? What is the scope and prospects of South-South cooperation in the area of capacity development and knowledge transfer?
