6th Meeting of the Network of Civil Service Training Schools and Institutes in the MENA Region

The Sixth Meeting of the GIFT-MENA network took place on February 10, 2015, in Marrakech. It gathered 55 high officials representing 23 training institutions from 12 Arab countries and 11 regional and international organizations.

The meeting offered a platform for participants to:

  • Take stock of the network progress and achievements since its inception in 2006
  • Reflect on the future of the network and make practical recommendations to steer its development through think thank discussions focusing on three main aspects: 1) Governance, funding and sustainability, 2) Satisfaction and future needs and 3) The federation of knowledge tools and reference reports.
  • Propose a preliminary agenda for the Network’s activities for 2015-2016.
  • Elect a new steering committee for the period 2015-2017.

Each participating institution was provided with an exhibition space and encouraged to display its latest publications and brochures, in an effort to encourage bilateral exchange and networking.  

The meeting was held in the context of the Sixth Annual Conference of the GIFT-MENA Network on “Governance, State Building and the Rule of Law”, that was jointly organized by the Moroccan Ministry of Civil Service and Administrative Modernization, the Institut des Finances Basil Fuleihan – Secretariat of the Network, the Arab Planning Institute and Expertise France, with the collaboration of the Governance Pole of the Embassy of France in Morocco and the Economic and Social Commission for  Western Asia (ESCWA).
